SureFire

SureFire is a powdered gelling agent designed to thicken fuels used in prescribed burning. SureFire is formulated to be used at 3 to 5 lbs. per 45 Imp/gals of fuel.

Mixing ratios are only approximate. The amount of SureFire required will depend on the fuel type, temperature and thickness of the gel desired. Cooler fuels (i.e. 30 - 40F or colder) add 1/3 to1/2 more SureFire to ensure complete gelling. Warm fuels (60 - 70F) require less SureFire and will setup very quickly.

MIXING

1. Ensure mixing drum is clean.
2. Add 15 - 20 gallons of fuel. Add SureFire slowly while stirring fuel. Continue to add remainder of fuel while stirring.
3. Continue to stir for approximately 1 minute after all fuel has been added and all is dissolved. Let sit and stir periodically.
4. Close mixing barrel and allow gel to set up.

Mixtures using SureFire should be prepared 15 - 30 minutes prior to use. If turnarounds are less than 15 minutes, use 1/3 to 1/2 more SureFire to ensure faster gelling.
